The gastrointestinal tract is one of the earliest and hardest-hit reservoirs in HIV infection, and tissue-resident memory CD4+ T cells there are central to whether mucosal immunity recovers. This collaborative study examined what starting antiretroviral therapy early does to that population.
What I did on it
I conducted the gut microbiome analysis supporting the immunological findings — the microbial half of a question whose other half was cellular.
